Hotel bucks industry downturn

Sprawled along the shores of Ajman, just 25 km from Dubai Airport and downtown Dubai, Ajman Kempinski Hotel & Resort is set on 500m of private white sandy beach and gardens providing an exclusive retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Ajman Kempinski, with its home in the Northern Emirate seems to have managed to sidestep the question of a luxury hotel glut in the UAE market.
“While it is true that many deluxe hotels have opened in Dubai in recent years, this is not the case in the Northern Emirates,” says Rumy Tzolova, PR and marketing manager for the hotel.

“Ajman Kempinski was the first five-star hotel north of Dubai when it opened in 1998 and remains the only five-star deluxe property in Ajman to date. There are no more than five hotels in the neighbouring emirates, namely Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Therefore we cannot speak of excess of deluxe accommodation in the Northern Emirates. On the contrary, more deluxe hotels would enhance the image of the area and help market and boost tourism,” adds Tzolova.

The Ajman Kempinski has recorded an average occupancy of more than 70 per cent from January to date. “This is an excellent result considering we had the Iraq war in this period,” says Tzolova.

“The hospitality industry in the Middle East survived and has already moved past the Iraq crisis. As in previous situations when the safety of the region has been questioned internationally, the government of Dubai reacted swiftly and decisively, reassuring the world that Dubai and the UAE are not affected by the war and all of us in the hospitality industry are extremely grateful to them,” she adds.

The hotel is currently hosting the GCC K-Family Summer promotion. This promotion offers free stay for one child up to 12 years old and free meals on the same meal plan of the parents for one, two or three children under 12.
