While the Jebel Jais Flight remains the adventure attraction in Ras Al Khaimah, several new activities are about to join this quarter

Jebel Jais remains core to Ras Al Khaimah’s overall tourism proposition in establishing the emirate as a global adventure tourism destination.

Ras Al Khaimah is the ultimate destination for adventure and sports enthusiasts with a rich portfolio of adventure tourism products. The Jebel Jais remains a firm focus for the emirate’s adventure activities, not least of which include ziplining, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking in the mangroves, water sports and off-road driving.

Home to the world’s longest zipline as certified by Guinness World Records, the Jebel Jais Flight is 2.8km long, the equivalent to over 28 soccer fields and spans the chasm of Jebel Jais, at over 1,680 metres above sea level. It has two main zipline cables allowing friends and families to fly together. The whole experience lasts for two to three minutes with top speeds reaching between 120 and 150km per hour.

The Jebel Jais Flight is a bucket list experience and has received a strong following from thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies from all over the world.

The Jais Sky Tour is the latest addition to the Jais Adventure Peak, which will join and complement the existing attractions. It features seven ziplines flying over the grand cliffs and canyons of Jebel Jais, which are connected by nine platforms; the cluster of seven ziplines cover a total distance of 5km (ranging from 337m to 1km in length) with an average speed of 60kmph.

During the tour, flyers will navigate their way through the air to reach the 15-metre-long sky bridge, the highest in the UAE at 1,250m above the sea level and 300m above ground, which they will have to cross to finish the remaining part of the zipline tour journey.

Jebel Jais Viewing Deck Park has seven viewing decks. Visitors can take in stunning 360-degree vistas of the spectacular Hajar Mountains, formed over 70 million years ago and standing nearly 1,300 meters above sea level.

Upcoming adventure tourism products to launch in Jebel Jais this first quarter of the year include Jais Sky Maze, Jais Sky Drop and Bear Grylls Academy.

The soon to open Jais Sky Maze is an obstacle maze on the UAE’s highest mountain. Find your sense of adventure 10 meters above the ground as you navigate through several obstacles including rope swings, wobbly bridges, swinging loops and much more. With two levels of endless fun, the Jais Sky Maze is suitable for adventure seekers of all ages.

The next adventure attraction to launch will be a controlled bungee, the Jais Sky Drop, at a height of 1,500 meters above the sea (23 meters above ground). Participants will have a free fall of 8 metres and a controlled fall of 15 meters.

Also to open this quarter, the Bear Grylls Survival Academy on Jebel Jais will offer participants a training area; a medical room; a restaurant; a leisure area and an assembly point dedicated for bonfires at night. The hiking trails on Jebel Jais will have a total length of 18-km and will be open to the public, suitable for all fitness levels.
