marhaba will significantly expand one of its flagship lounges in Dubai

MARHABA, dnata’s airport hospitality brand, is expanding one of its flagship lounges in Dubai, and opening an additional facility in Geneva. The expansion of the UAE lounge will be completed next summer, while the new Swiss lounge is expected to open by the end of 2020.

marhaba has also announced that it would refurbish and rebrand existing dnata lounges at the airports of Geneva, Zurich and Singapore, bringing all facilities in the company’s network under the same brand in the next two years.

Shahab Al Awadhi, head of marhaba Global, tells TTN that marhaba is working on a global playbook that will provide common guidelines for all lounges going forward - both from a design perspective and the service level to have a consistency across its global outreach.

“There are changing customer preferences as travel continues to grow. Customers who travel on economy or premium economy or on low-cost carriers, now want access to the same level of products and services that were traditionally reserved for business and first-class travellers.

“People want value, convenience and accessibility, they want great experiences, and even want to pay for them, but not necessarily for full-on business class travel, which is where we come in.

"We are thrilled to expand our global footprint and enhance our offering by opening, expanding and refurbishing marhaba lounges at some of the world's busiest airports.

"Air travel experience has become more than just the in-flight journey. From the moment they enter the terminal, passengers are looking for quality services to improve their travel experience at the airports. Taking advantage of our global network and extensive experience in airport and catering services, we pride ourselves in offering a premium lounge product that has been designed to fully meet the needs of passengers of all travel classes. We look forward to welcoming even more travellers in our uniform marhaba lounges, providing the same service excellence to them across the globe.

“Our customers come from a wide variety of segments and backgrounds. I think B2B is always going to be one of our major customer segments,” he says. marhaba has a newly launched website so B2C bookings are expected to grow side by side as well.

marhaba started to expand its global footprint in 2017 by opening new airport lounges in Karachi and Melbourne. Since then, it has opened a new facility in Singapore and substantially increased the capacity of its airport lounges in Dubai. Including its new and rebranded lounges, marhaba will operate 13 departure airport lounges in five countries providing service excellence to over 2.6 million passengers annually with a team of over 800 customer-oriented employees.
