The Sunday Times Travel Magazine is to present its first travel awards to tour operators, carriers, global hotels, resorts, spas and countries at World Travel Market 2003.
The event wll be held on November 10-13, at London’s ExCeL.
Winners of the 13 award categories will be selected by either reader votes or by the editor’s panel of experts.
Fiona Jeffery, group exhibition director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to welcome the Sunday Times Travel Awards to World Travel Market.
“The magazine is read by both industry professionals and holidaymakers and the global reach of World Travel Market is a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to the pursuit of excellence.
“In addition to honouring those companies, organisations and destinations that play a real or emerging part in international travel and tourism, the awards will uniquely recognise key qualities, such as style, value and service.
“Although World Travel Market is still strictly business to business, we want to emphasise to consumers the event’s influence over holiday trends and developments worldwide.”
The editor’s awards are: Outstanding Style; Outstanding Value; Outstanding Service; and an Overall Winner of the Year, drawn from these three categories.
The award categories on which readers are voting are: City Weekend Award; Visitor-friendly City Award; World Airline Award; Short-Haul Airline Award; Great British Weekend Award; Web Travel Award; ‘Country on the Up’ Award; The Most Exposed Award; and Operator of the Year Award.
