It is a successful start-up incubated with the support of Intelak, the UAE’s aviation, travel, and tourism-focused incubator. (Intelak is led by the Emirates Group, GE and Dubai Tourism.) The three principal partners provide seed funding and expert support and training for young innovators to convert their aviation, travel and tourism-related ideas into businesses.
The success of Dubz is underpinned by Dubai National Air Transport Association (dnata) acquiring a majority stake in the company.
When customers place a booking, the Dubz team picks up their bags, secures and seals them, stores them, and then delivers them later in the day to the customer’s required destination.
This is a first-of-its-kind home check-in experience where passengers' boarding passes and baggage tags are printed right at their home/hotel and bags are delivered and loaded onto their respective flights. Dubz also arranges belt pick-up and delivery. Passengers can skip the carousel at arrivals and simply head to their destination luggage free. The third service it provides is baggage storage.
Dubz has been adding partnerships on a regular basis, starting with airlines such as flydubai, flynas, Saudia, and more recently Kuwait Airways and Royal Jordanian. They also have been the exclusive partner for DWTC to handle all on-site baggage storage and delivery requirements for some of their biggest exhibitions. They are also working on many exciting initiatives with dnata Travel, DTCM, and major hotel chains.
“More than a thousand bags have been delivered per month since dnata announced its acquisition of us in June 2018,” Omar Abou Faraj, CEO and co-founder, DUBZ. “We now offer our services to 10 airlines: flydubai, flynas, Saudia, China Southern, Kuwait Airways, Gulf Air, Saudi Gulf, Royal Jordanian, Ethiopian, Rwanda. Passengers of Emirates Airlines can also book Emirates Home Check-in service on dubz.com.
“We have many partners especially within the Emirates Group who can book our services to their customers using our technology.”
Dubz customer satisfaction rating has averaged 4.86 out of 5 from more than 500 reviews. “We are being approached by many travel related organisations to collaborate on expanding our footprint in the GCC and elsewhere.”
