Media City gets its own ballroom

Opening this month in the upcoming Innovation Hub development, the 235-key Grand Plaza Mövenpick Media City will be the only five-star hotel in Dubai’s Media City to house a ballroom.

The hotel also offers a fully equipped 1,150 sq m convention centre, inclusive of the 600 sq m ballroom boasting a capacity of 650 guests, making it ideal for conventions, meetings, weddings and celebrations. Nine flexible meeting rooms are also available and equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, complementary wi-fi and lighting equipment.

“We have installed top-of-the-line meeting and conferences technology, including satellite projections that do not need an internet provider to operate, as the biggest names in technology happen to be our neighbours and therefore, potential clients. We have beautiful, natural daylight in all our meeting spaces. The walls are sound-proof, so noise doesn’t carry over from one space to another,” general manager Alfio Bernardini tells TTN.

The property is managed by AccorHotels and owned by Thalia Real Estate, and features 235 spacious guestrooms and suites starting in size from 46 square metres upwards to 94 sq m.

The hotel’s dining experience rings true to its Swiss origins, with the highest quality. It offers guests a choice of five lifestyle-driven venues.

The property boasts high ceilings and large windows, with the centrepiece being The Swoop – a chandelier mimicking the motion of a bird swooping down to catch its prey and then flying back into the sky. Designed by Katerina Handlova and made in the Czech Republic by Lasvit, the chandelier comprises 3,500 hand-blown crystals, put together in Dubai by four professionals over five weeks.

All rooms utilise a neutral colour palette and are set against views of the Palm Jumeirah.
