Designed in the style of traditional Omani architecture with an Asian flair, the latest addition to Oman, The Chedi Muscat is looking at setting standards in the style-conscious Gulf region.

"We are a life-style hotel specifically designed to fit into the local culture and are targeting the sophisticated affluent traveller looking for an exclusive property. We belong to the new generation of Chedi hotels and are a totally new product not only for Oman but the entire Middle East," explained the general manager Andre Kretschmann.

"Moreover, we are the only hotel in Oman boasting a spa and our watersports facilities too are set to be operational by September 2003," added Kretschmann.

The hotel boasts authentic architecture and attention to detail and offers views of the Gulf of Oman and the mountain ranges of Muscat.

"We pride in offering custom-made interiors, cutlery and lighting among other aspects of the property, which you will not find in any other hotel. As a result, a lot of documentaries have already been shot using the resort premises. Moreover, we have also been well received by the local community," said Kretschmann.

The hotel is working on promoting itself and creating awareness before the high season begins. It is also focusing on getting repeat guests, which is an important element of Chedi properties worldwide.

The Chedi Muscat offers 61 superior rooms and 60 deluxe rooms, all having views of the ocean or the mountains in addition to 40 single and double-storey club suites.

Each room is equipped with a minibar, two independent telephone lines, electronic safe and complimentary bathroom amenities, while the club suites also boast a CD player. Recreational facilities include an extensive spa, two pools, fitness centre, a private beach, tennis courts and a library.

Locally owned, the property is managed by Singapore-based GHM Hotels.
