The Matterhorn is one of Europe's most recognisable mountains.

A consortium of Swiss Alpine resort hotels has followed up its recent ATM debut by launching tailored packages to attract Middle East visitors looking for an active mountain adventure this summer.

Based in the picture postcard town of Zermatt, Seiler Hotels and Riffelalp Resort 2222m have designed three action packed programmes to suit people of various levels of fitness, with a range of mountain activities including hiking, mountain biking and, for the most adventurous visitors, paragliding. The packages include accommodation and breakfast, as well as meals, where indicated.

Real adventure seekers can choose the five-night 'Fit' package with prices from $1,184 per person. Guests can choose any one of four Seiler Hotels, or the Riffelalp Resort 2222m, the highest altitude five star hotel in Europe.

After arrival at their chosen hotel, guests will spend five days enjoying everything from a biking or hiking tour, a climb of the Riffelhorn, crossing the Gorner Gorge, ascending the Breithorn at 4160m - all with expert guides on hand.

The crescendo of the five-day stay will be an unforgettable tandem paragliding flight over the village of Zermatt, which will get even the most adventurous souls' pulses racing.

If all that sounds too tough, guests can choose the five-night 'Easy' package with prices starting at $953 per person at the same five hotels.

This package includes a guided hiking tour from Sunegga to Riffelalp, a helicopter flight around the magnificent Matterhorn and a view of Switzerland's highest peaks, a hike around Zermatt through the clear cool mountain air, and finally a memorable mule ride through the mountains.

For those who like to take it really easy, the five-night 'Light' package is also available from $818 per person. From their chosen hotel, guests will enjoy a comfortable trip by Gornergrat rack railway into the midst of Switzerland's beautiful circle of mountains rising over 4000m, a hiking tour to the Ricola Herb Garden followed by Lunch at Restaurant Blatten, a trip on the Sunegga Express to explore and picnic at Leisee, pampering in the hotels' Wellness centres, and a trip to the Alpine Museum for some mountaineering history.

Located in the Swiss Alps, close to the Italian Border, the town of Zermatt boasts the amazing backdrop of the Matterhorn, one of Europe's most recognisable mountains.

The Riffelalp Resort 2222m allows guests to be as close to nature as possible, away from the village, and offers unadulterated views of the Matterhorn.
