The St David's Hotel & Spa which opened in January 1999 is today a striking landmark on Cardiff's Millennium waterfront.
The first purpose-built five-star hotel in Wales is owned by Sir Rocco Forte & Family (Cardiff Bay) Ltd, and is managed by RF Hotels, which was established in 1996 to manage luxury hotels.
The hotel's 132 rooms include 19 suites and feature balconies with views over the bay.
"The building incorporates a floor to ceiling glass fronted atrium giving a vision of space and natural light," said a hotel spokesman.
St David's other facilities include the Tides Bar and Restaurant overlooking the Cardiff Bay, seven fully equipped function rooms including video conferencing facilities for up to 270 delegates and a business centre incorporating the latest technology.
"The hotel brings a new approach to luxury hydrotherapy treatments to the UK designed to harmonise mind and body using sea products, salts and minerals," says the spokesman.
St David's Spa offers a hydrotherapy suite with 14 treatment rooms for seaweed wraps, water and beauty treatments; two salt water hydropools; 15 metre exercise pool; sauna; solarium; cardio vascular gymnasium; separate male and female relaxation rooms; spa dining room overlooking the bay; dance and exercise studio
A programme of treatments is recommended after personal evaluations.
"This is balanced with a prescribed diet and exercise regime. For a full regeneration, it is recommended that individuals stay in the centre for six days in order to complete the full programme," said the spokesman.
"The spa combines the benefits of hydrotherapy treatments with the philosophy of the E'Spa product range to offer a collection of face and body treatments using the E'Spa deeply relaxing and anti-stressing oils, revitalising seaweeds and nourishing skincare."
