Dubai Safari, home to the UAE’s most diverse array of animals, opened last month and crossed the 100,000-visitor mark within a week. The 12 –million-sq-ft park is currently home to 2,000 animals of 250 different species from around the world.

Dubai Safari expects to welcome two million visitors during the park’s first year of operation, Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, said during the soft opening of the safari park. “The response from the public was overwhelming and during this testing phase it gave us the opportunity to monitor and assess the overall operations of the park while also gathering valuable feedback from visitors about their experience. This will contribute immensely towards further enhancing the overall offering of Dubai Safari.”

Lootah said that there were plans – in collaboration with Dubai Tourism – to incentivise agents and operators to include Dubai Safari in their itineraries, though the details of such incentives were not available at the time of interview. “We are keen to provide visitors with a different experience – this is not a usual safari. It has several attractions and shows, you can experience the safari in a special vehicle and children will have a petting zoo.” The park is also going to have a zoo keeping course, and will be the first place in the UAE to offer it.

Dubai Safari is open daily from 9am to 5pm including all public holidays and is located in Al Warqaa 5 district across Dubai’s Dragon Mart off the Dubai-Hatta Highway. The Safari Park ticket will provide access to the Arabian village, African village, Asian village, and Alwadi for Dh20 ($5.40) for children and Dh50 ($13.60) for adults. The Combo Ticket gives visitors access to all of the above and Safari Village, and costs Dh30 ($8.15) for children and Dh85 ($23.15) for adults. Senior citizens and children under the age of three will enter Dubai Safari for free, while people of determination will also get free admission as well as have their own gate with wheelchairs available if needed.
