Russell Loughland joins as DOSM


British national Russell Loughland joins Al Faisaliah Hotel, Al Faisaliah Suites and Hotel Al Khozama as their new director of sales and marketing with more than 25 years of hospitality experience. Most recently, he was executive assistant manager for Crowne Plaza Kuwait Al Thuraya City, for the pre-opening period.

 

 

 

 


Abboud joins as GM of Golden Tulip

Golden Tulip Hotel in Al Barsha, Dubai has appointed Mark Abboud as its new general manager. Abboud, who has been with the Louvre Hotels Group since June 2013, has 25 years of hospitality experience, specifically in F&B. He has also worked with Swiss-Belhotel, Ramada, and St. George Hotel.

 

 

 

 

 


Manocha to lead Marriott Al Jadda

Deepak Manocha is now the general manager of the Marriott & Marriott Executive Apartments Al Jaddaf Dubai. Over the past two years, he was the general manager at the Marriott Harbour Suites. Manocha is a trained glider pilot, has completed two marathons in Dubai and is continuing education at Harvard Business School.

 

 

 

 


Souta joins Media One Hotel

Media One Hotel has appointed Samira Alouta as leisure sales manager from her most recent role of business development manager at Foras Travel and Tourism. Samira moved to Dubai from Spain in 2013, after graduating from the Universitat de Girona with a degree in Tourism and Hotel Management.

 

 

 

 


Phung joins KLCC

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has appointed Jenice Phung, as its head of conventions and conferences sales. In her new role, she will head up the sales team responsible for securing international and national association conferences and conventions in order to grow the market share.

 

 

 

 


Hendrix joins as F&B director

Huib Hendrix has been appointed by Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach as the new director of food and beverage. In his role, he will provide strategic leadership and execution for the hotel’s food and beverage concepts, and guide the hotel’s remarkable culinary programmes, centred on taste, variety and guest satisfaction.

 

 

 

 


GM for Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi

Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi has appointed Ashraf El Siessy as its new general manager, from Sheraton Deira Hotel in Dubai, where he worked in a similar capacity. Originally from Egypt, he has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, and has worked in Qatar, Egypt, UAE and USA.

 

 

 

 


Simon Azizi joins Salalah Rotana

Salalah Rotana Resort has welcomed Simon Azizi, from his most recent position as director of food and beverage at the Erbil Rotana, Iraq, as its new executive assistant manager. Azizi joined Rotana as a restaurant manager in 2003, and worked his way up within the company’s hotels in Beirut, Khartoum and Erbil. 

 

 

 

 


Amwaj Rotana, Dubai appoints three department heads

Amwaj Rotana has appointed three new department heads, including Kamal Haider who joins as the new director of front office, with more than 19 years of hospitality experience. Martina Hauri has been appointed as director of Human Resources. Martina has been with Rotana for two years as director of Human Resources in Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana. Executive chef Ted Espiritu brings with him more than 21 years of experience, having previously worked for Park Rotana in Abu Dhabi, Urban Food Concepts in Switzerland and Marriott Marquis in New York, to name a few.

 

 

 


Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa makes key appointments

Kuwait’s Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa has made three key appointments, including promoting Behiye Salk to executive assistant manager, Rooms Division; and Mohammed Al Khatib to executive assistant manager Food & Beverage Division; and hiring Claire Martin as the new manager of Talise Spa. Behiye will lead room operations while maintaining Jumeirah’s focus on product and service differentiation. Al Khatib has a proven track record in developing concepts and creativity. Claire will lead team organisation and supervision, recruitment, revenue growth, while maintaining Talise Spa.

 

 

 


Rana joins St. Regis Abu Dhabi

The St. Regis Abu Dhabi has hired Rana Wassfey as government sales account director, for driving global government business to the hotel, with a focus on the GCC. An Egyptian, Rana brings 8 years of hospitality experience to the mix. Most recently, she was senior sales manager government protocol at Emirates Palace.

 

 

 

 


Ron Cusiter joins COMO as VP

COMO Hotels and Resorts has appointed British national Ron Cusiter as the vice-president of sales and marketing. With 25 years in the luxury hospitality industry, he joins COMO from Zurich, where he was vice-president of sales operations for Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Southwest Asia for Hyatt International.

 

 

 

 


Thailand makes tourism promotions

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has appointed Tanes Petsuwan as deputy governor for international marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas), while Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, is deputy governor for marketing communications, and Noppadon Pakprot (pictured here), is deputy governor for tourism products and business.

 

 

 

 


Jo-ella joins Wyndham Dubai

Wyndham Dubai Marina has appointed Jo-Ella Moore as hotel manager to oversee all operations of the hotel, reporting to cluster manager, Rogier M. Hurkmans. Jo-Ella joins the 32-storey, 486-room, four-star property with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry in all areas of hotel operations.

 

 

 

 


Gurumurthiah is cluster DOSM

Prashanth Gurumurthiah is the new cluster director of sales and marketing at the Park Inn by Radisson Muscat and Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Residence Duqm in Oman. An Indian national, he started his career as a system analyst and consultant and worked his way up through various positions in Switzerland, UK, UAE and India.

 

 

 

 


Oman's Salam Air names new CEO

Oman’s first budget airline Salam Air has appointed ex-flynas chief executive François Bouteiller as its new CEO. Bringing 30 years of experience to the new role, Bouteiller will take the lead in guiding the new carrier to its highly anticipated launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

 

 

 

 


Four Seasons promotes Clerc and Parrotta

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts announced the promotion of Christian Clerc to president, Worldwide Hotel Operations from his most recent posting based in Dubai as president, Hotel Operations – Europe, Middle East and Africa. Born in Switzerland and a graduate of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Clerc has enjoyed 16 years career with Four Seasons. Meanwhile, Vince Parrotta has also been promoted to president, Hotel Operations – Americas to oversee operations for the company’s largest region, which currently encompasses close to 50 hotels and resorts. Parrotta joined Four Seasons in 1999 with more than 15 years of industry experience.
