Abu Dhabi Airport Catering and Duty Free have been awarded two awards during the 17th Annual OnBoard Service awards, organised by Onboard Services magazine alongside their annual conference held in Orlando, USA.

ADDF was presented with the Diamond Award for Terminal Concessions (Duty Free) and the Emerald Award for Inflight Catering.

The awards are open to all four industries covered by the publication - airlines, cruise lines, railroads and terminal concessions and three awards were presented in each category - Diamond, Emerald and Sapphire, to the best entrants from around the world.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Civil Aviation, said: "I am delighted at the achievement of Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) in winning these two awards. We firmly believe in providing top of the range services and facilities to our customers in order to make travelling a pleasurable experience and the success of this strategy is born out with these awards."

Sheikh Hamdan expressed his thanks to the management and staff of Abu Dhabi Airport Catering and Duty Free and urged them to continue their efforts to reach even higher standards of excellence, saying: "We believe in investing in people by offering our staff growing opportunities as this results in a motivated and enthusiastic workforce all working together to achieve a common goal."

Mohamed Mounib, managing director of Abu Dhabi Airport Catering and Duty Free, said: "We are very pleased to have won these two awards, as they are a recognition of our efforts from our peers within the travel industry. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and team efforts of every member of staff within the airport."

The Terminal Concession (Duty Free) award was presented for outstanding or innovative programmes on or off site, for example special retail productions, marketing promotions to increase sales or special product category displays.

The catering award was presented for outstanding, innovative programmes developed by a caterer for an airline, cruise line, railroad or terminal concessions.

Abu Dhabi Airport Catering's entry was based on the exclusive new concept - "East Meets West", which was created using the expertise of chefs bringing about a marriage of the flavours of the East and the West.
