The number of passengers passing through Kuwait International Airport last year topped four million, up nine per cent on 2001 figures.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the Gulf nationals represented 31 per cent of the number of passengers, Arabs 22 per cent, Asians 33 per cent, Europeans and Americans about 14 per cent.
Kuwait Airways took the lion's share of the passengers` traffic, transporting 2.38 million passengers, with a 10 per cent increase from 2001. The carrier clocked up 16,027 trips, 49 per cent of the overall aviation traffic.
