Relaxation centres are 'revenue earners'
October 2002 2

Spas are no longer an additional luxury facility in a resort or a hotel, says a hotel executive.

Besides being considered the number one source of mental and physical relaxation for the guests, spas today are a major revenue centre, said Ritz-Carlton Sharm El Sheikh public relations manager Amira El Amir.

Built on an area of 600 sq m, the Ritz-Carlton Spa and Fitness Centre offers a wide range of massage and body therapies, said El Amir.

The fitness centre offers state-of-the-art equipment, a beauty salon and four indoor treatment rooms. The wet area has a heated whirlpool, sauna, steam room and aromatherapy room. An outdoor Arabian massage tent also features two sand baths.

The spa offers an extensive range of treatments such as aromatic flower and milk baths, body wraps and body glows. The sand bath is one of the popular treatments specially in winter, said El Amir.

It has introduced four new treatments which aim "to alleviate 120 hours of stress in one".
