Three win Europe holidays in travel quiz

Three residents in Dubai, UAE will be flying off to holidays in Europe after winning a radio travel quiz aired to promote Hilton HHonors, Hilton International's frequent guest programme, and Skywards, Emirates' and Srilankan Airlines' frequent flyer programme. Michelle Rose, Hatem Hussain and Hyatt Zerelli respectively won flights and accommodation for two to London, Munich and Istanbul, in the competition, which was aired on Channel 4FM's weekend breakfast show during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) exhibition.

Air-India plans 11 additional flights to Gulf

MANAMA: Air-India plans to launch 11 additional flights on the Gulf-India route by June, Capt P P Singh, the newly appointed regional manager, Gulf & Middle East, has said. Among the new flights planned is another weekly flight on the Bahrain-Cochin route. The details, however, are still being finalised, he said.

Oman tourism revenue surges 13pc

MUSCAT: Oman's tourism revenue surged 13 per cent last year to RO45.7 million, compared to 1999, official statistics showed. The statistics also revealed that the number of hotels in the sultanate increased to 100 while the number of overseas hotel occupants rose to 57,111.

Hertz launches privilege card in Saudi

DUBAI: Hertz Saudi Arabia has launched a new privilege card which offers business and leisure travellers reduced car rental charges in the Kingdom, and overseas, and guarantees rapid rental services. Chelsea sports Emirates colours

LONDON: English football club Chelsea has a new home kit, sporting the Fly Emirates logo. The kit went on sale at club's megastore in London after it was launched by Chelsea captain Dennis Wise, right, and mascot Stamford. The design is part of a sponsorship deal by Emirates Airline, the Dubai-based international carrier, worth £24 million ($34.3 million) over four years.

Metropolitan appoints GSA in Qatar

DOHA: Regency Travels and Tourist has been appointed as the General Sales Agent (GSA) in Qatar for the Dubai-based Metropolitan Hotels International group. Ali Amrallah, assistant director of sales at Metropolitan, said the appointment of a GSA is expected to increase the number of tourists from Qatar staying at the group's properties by 15 to 20 per cent.

DOHA: The Radisson SAS Portman Hotel, London, one of the award-winning Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts' premier properties, has teamed up with Qatar Airways to offer the airline's Privilege Club members double miles and upgrades for every stay at the five-star property until August 31.

Hotel opens new Italian restaurant

DUBAI: Century Hotel, formerly Dubai Marine Hotel, has launched a new Italian restaurant, Spago, offering a choice of classical dishes from the south of Italy. It offers homemade pizzas and calzones, homemade breads with dipping oils, freshly made pasta, risotto, fish and meat grills, antipasti and lasagne.
