New Hyatt role for Franzen

Hyatt International Corporation has appointed Christoph K Franzen as the new area vice president for Qatar and Oman. In addition to overlooking the operation of Grand Hyatt Doha as general manager, Franzen will now lead and overlook Grand Hyatt Muscat and all Hyatt properties in Qatar.

Dowling gets Bahrain posting

Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the Middle East has appointed Anna-Marie Dowling as the new complex general manager for The Westin Bahrain City Centre and Le Meridien Bahrain City Centre. Dowling’s expertise and experience in the hospitality industry spans 24 years. This will be her first role in the Middle East.

El Naggar named revenue director

Rotana Group has appointed Amr El Naggar as the new cluster director of revenue for Capital Centre Arjaan by Rotana, and Centro Capital Centre. El Naggar will oversee the revenue department of both hotels. He was previously director of revenue at Park Rotana and Park Arjaan by Rotana complex, Abu Dhabi.

Saad appointed director

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Jumeirah Beach Residence has appointed Mohamed Saad as its new director of sales and marketing. Saad, who brings in over 15 years of experience, was the cluster assistant director of sales of Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach Residence and Ramada Sharjah before.

Anna Olsson named new director

Emirates Palace has appointed Anna Olsson as the new director of sales and marketing. Olsson, who has over 17 years’ experience in the industry in the Middle East, Asia and Europe, will further promote the hotel’s pre-eminence as a Mice and leisure destination. She has held similar roles with leading brands previously.

Al Faisaliah posting for Wolny

Al Faisaliah Hotel, Riyadh, has appointed Christian Wolny as its executive assistant manager. Wolny, with over 15 years of experience working in luxury hotels around the world, is responsible for overseeing the room operations at the hotel and Al Faisaliah Suites.

New appointment at Sofitel Al Khobar

Sofitel Al Khobar The Corniche, Saudi Arabia, has appointed Hani Akkari as its executive assistant manager. Akkari has 12 years’ experience in the Middle East and Europe with various major hotel brands. He has a Master’s degree in hospitality management from Cornell University, New York.

Wieser is CEO of Maldives properties

Michael Wieser has been appointed as the chief executive officer of Lily Hotels and Resorts, owner and operator of Lily Beach Resort & Spa and Dhonakulhi Investments, owner and operator of Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa, in Maldives. Earlier, he was the chief operating officer of the company.

New F&B director for InterCon Jordan

Elie Saliba has been appointed as the food and beverage director of InterContinental Jordan, Amman. Saliba, a Lebanese national, brings with him over 15 years’ of experience in hospitality covering operations and franchising management of restaurants in Kuwait, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Kaplanci  is Rixos Bab Al Bahr CEO

Rixos Bab Al Bahr resort, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has appointed Cerrah Sami Kaplanci as the new general manager. In his new role, Kaplanci will oversee the entire hotel operations and the commercial performance of the resort. He has over 22 years of international hospitality experience.

Mahazim is new hotel manager

Galip Mahazim has been appointed as the new hotel manager at Rixos Bab Al Bahr, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Responsible for the day-to-day execution of all hotel operations and overseeing over 600 members of Staff, Mahazim brings to his role extensive knowledge within the luxury hotel industry.

Starwood names new F&B director

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has appointed Stefan Breg as the director of food and beverage for the Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) region. Breg will implement the company’s food and beverage strategy in the region which currently operates nearly 1,200 restaurant and bars across more than 260 hotels.

New post for Roziman at Sarawak

Amelia Roziman has been appointed as the general manager of marketing and sales for Sarawak at the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB), Malaysia. She was previously the global marketing and communications director and has contributed to SCB winning nine international awards for creative marketing.

New VP sales for Hyatt

Hyatt International has appointed Christian Pertl as the regional vice president of sales operations for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Africa. With almost two decades in the hospitality industry, Pertl has extensive international experience in commercial operations and keen  knowledge of key feeder markets.

Holiday Inn Dead Sea has new GM

InterContinental Jordan has appointed Emmanuel Stavrakakis as the general manager of Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea. He enjoys over 20 years of experience in the hospitality sector and started his career at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) at the Crowne Plaza in Germany.

New Sofitel role for Hanayen

Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche hotel has appointed Mehdi Hanayen as the new executive assistant manager. Hanayen will be responsible for the hotel operations covering rooms department, food and beverage, events, spa, security and engineering departments.

R Hotels names Arora cluster GM

R Hotels has promoted Samir Arora as the cluster general manager of its two Dubai properties, Ramada Downtown Dubai and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham. Arora had served earlier as the general manager of Ramada Downtown Dubai. In his new role, he will oversee the day-to-day operations of both hotels.

Hilton Worldwide has appointed Osama Ibrahim as general manager of Hilton Capital Grand Abu Dhabi. Ibrahim brings more than 20 years of experience to his new role. He was previously executive assistant manager at Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort in Dubai.

Copthorne gets new HR manager

Copthorne Hotel Dubai has appointed Hertz Langdet Martin as its new human resources manager. Prior to her new position, Hertz worked as an HR consultant for a hotel company in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With 10 years HR experience, Martin has served various four- and five- star hotels in the UAE in senior positions.
