Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara has appointed Thomas Fehlbier as general manager. Prior to this, Fehlbier served as general manager of Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa in Thailand. Fehlbier brings with him 25 years of experience in the luxury hospitality business across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates has hired accomplished hotelier Grant Ruddiman (pictured here) as the general manager. With more than 30 years of hospitality experience, he has worked in numerous roles. The hotel has also appointed Alexander Suski as director of sales and marketing.
Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai has appointed Greg D’Souza as the director of sales and marketing. D’Souza will oversee sales and revenue generation and will strategically position the property to drive optimal sales and revenue. Prior to his new role, he served as corporate director of sales in Rotana’s area sales office.
Harish Bhojwani (pictured here) has been promoted as general manager at the Ramada Palace Hotel, Gudaibiya, Bahrain where he was acting general manager for five years. He has 22 years of valuable hospitality experience. Meanwhile, Michael Chettiar has been appointed as director of sales and marketing at the property.
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels has appointed Craig Bruce as general manager of the 844-room Grand Millennium Al Wahda in Abu Dhabi. With over 10 years’ experience, Bruce’s hospitality experience combined with a thorough understanding of the local market will ensure the hotel grows from strength to strength.
A man with more than 30 years of hospitality experience and a passion for working in remote areas has been appointed general manager of the Sanctum Inle Resort in Myanmar’s Inle Lake region. Philippe Arnaud joins from Paris, where he served as corporate operations manager for Valotel France.
Hossam Mansour has held a number of managerial positions across GCC, North Africa and Turkey, before joining Villa Rotana in Dubai. He also holds a master’s degree in Hospitality Management and various related certificates from Cornell University. He joined Rotana Group in 2013 as executive assistant manager.
Guido Bayley has been appointed the new cluster general manager for the Radisson Blu Hotel Abu Dhabi Yas Island and the Park Inn by Radisson Abu Dhabi Yas Island. Bayley joins from the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, London where he has been the general manager for the last five years.
Interel, manufacturer of integrated room technologies in the luxury hospitality industry, has announced the appointment of Petvin Fernandes as the company’s senior vice president Middle East, Africa and Indian Ocean. In this role Petvin leads the company’s sales and business development in the region.
Can Göktaş has returned to The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, a hotel he helped open 14 years ago. Prior to his new appointment, Göktaş held high-level executive positions with Kempinski Hotels before becoming the company’s regional director of sales for Turkey and Southern Europe. He has won several accolades in his career.
Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche has announced the appointment of Archana Kawatra as director of sales and marketing. She will be responsible for sales and business development of the 282-hotel room property, identifying market trends, determining system improvements and implementing change.
For the first time in the cruise industry, and in Celebrity Cruises’ history, an American female will take the helm of a mega-ton cruise ship. San Francisco native Kate McCue will command Celebrity Summit, a 91,000-ton, 965-foot ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet, sailing between the eastern United States and Bermuda.
Reed Travel Exhibitions has confirmed that David Hidalgo Ayala has been appointed as the new show director Icomex and Event Production Forum for the Reed Exhibitions Mexico Portfolio. Prior to joining Reed, he was general director of Yucatan Convention and Visitors Bureau where he was the strategy leader.
La Residence Hotel & Spa, a 1930-built art deco marvel in the one-time imperial capital of Vietnam, has named Edouard Lallemand as its new executive assistant manager. The 33-year-old French native comes to Hue’s most storied hotel from Danang where he worked at the Pullman Resort as rooms division manager.
Onyx Hospitality Group has appointed Zafer Agacan, as general manager of the soon-to-open Amari Havodda Maldives. Agacan has extensive experience in the hospitality industry with a career spanning over 20 years. Before joining his new role, Agacan was with Ayada Maldives Resort and Spa as general manager.
