Corporate teams and a large number of people supported a worthy cause by taking part in "the Vertical Marathon 2002" held at Dubai's Emirates Towers - the tallest building in the Middle East and Europe.
Emirates Towers Hotel, in co-operation with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), organised the event.
Participants climbed the stairs of the Emirates Towers Office Tower to reach the 50th floor, a hotel official said.
Large groups made up of individuals and corporate teams participated in the event to support the cause by offering donations during registration for MSF.
The winner of the marathon was from the 'individual male' category who completed the 50 floors in eight minutes and 17 seconds.
