Gebhard joins as GM

Kerzner International Holdings Limited has appointed Guenter Gebhard as general manager for One&Only Hayman Island, the collection’s first resort in Australia, ahead of its reopening in April 2014. His role will include strengthening the brand in the region. He boasts more than 20 years in the hospitality sector.






Kobercy promoted

Antoun Kobercy has been promoted to director of rooms at Golden Tulip Seeb Hotel in Oman. Kobercy joined the company eight years ago and previously held the position of revenue and front office manager. He also holds the position of assistant franchise services director for Golden Tulip Mena region.






Chef Marius joins Jumeira Rotana

Jumeira Rotana Dubai has announced the appointment of Marius Bernd Wiese as the sous chef to take care of its German restaurant Brauhaus. Chef Marius started his kitchen experience at the age of 16 and has trained in Ristorante Versilia Weimar / DE-Weimar in Germany.

Six Senses Spa at Sharq Village & Spa welcomes Elena Malmefeldt as visiting practitioner. She will specialise in weight-loss screening and programme development. Elena Malmefeldt has worked in preventive medicine, building concepts and strategies for companies working with healthcare, public health advisor, wellness and training centres.






Park Hyatt Jeddah appoints Zainy

Park Hyatt Jeddah has appointed Bayan Zainy as the new executive of marketing communications. Prior to this Zainy worked at Hilton Metropolitan Hotel for Visa during the 2012 London Olympics and Leylaty, an events company in Saudi Arabia, gaining a range of experience in customer service.







Lee is VP sales and marketing

Dusit Fudu Hotels and Resorts has appointed Catherine Lee as vice president sales and marketing, China of Dusit Fudu Hotels and Resorts. Lee’s major responsibilities will focus on building and fostering relationships with key clients and partners and strengthening the Dusit brand in China.







Amit is new F&B director

Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai announced the appointment of Amit Kumar as the hotel’s new director of food and beverage. Amit boasts 18 years of F&B experience in various capacities has played numerous principal roles in various internationally-recognised hotel chains.







Hecker joins Shangri-La Dubai

Gerhard Hecker has been appointed general manager of Shangri-La Hotel and Residences, Dubai. Hecker joined Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts seven years ago during the pre-opening of Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen, China. He moved to Dubai from Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, where he also held the position of general manager.







HMH appoints new CEO

HMH – Hospitality Management has announced the appointment of Laurent A. Voivenel as its chief executive officer. He brings 28 years of hotel management experience, having worked with some of the world’s leading and most prestigious international hospitality brands including Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Hilton Hotels & Resorts.






Yassat Gloria welcomes new GM

Yassat Gloria Hotel Apartments has announced the appointment of Maren Kuehl to the position of hotel manager. Kuehl has 18 years of experience in rooms division. Her most recent position was as acting general manager of Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto in Rome.







Faraz joins as night manager

Media One Hotel has appointed Ahmed Faraz as night manager. He began his career in Sheraton Heathrow Hotel in London as a night auditor, responsible in daily night audit and reporting operations and was later promoted to night manager. He has also worked with JW Marriot Hotel as assistant night manager of Grosvenor House, London.






The Chedi gets new pastry chef

The Chedi Muscat has appointed Abel Vieilleville as executive pastry chef. He brings experience from well-regarded hospitality establishments across the globe including The Shangri La Beijing, Hakkasan in London, Gordon Ramsay’s Savoy Grill, London’s Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor, La Terrace at Hotel Juana and La Belle Otero Restaurant in Cannes.






Held gets new role at Rocco Forte

Rocco Forte Hotels has announced the appointment of Gerold J. Held as general manager for Hotel Astoria in St Petersburg. Held has 30 years of experience in the hospitality. Held joins Hotel Astoria at the end of its landmark centenary year following a multi-million pound refurbishment.








Ilgaz to manage dual properties

Al Ghurair Rayhaan & Al Ghurair Arjaan by Rotana Dubai has announced the appointment of Timur Ilgaz as general manager for both properties. Ilgaz has 27 years of experience and joined the company in 2007 as the general manager for Jumeirah Rotana Dubai and in 2008 headed the pre-opening team of Amway Rotana.






Four Seasons roles for Sayess

Rami Sayess has taken over as regional vice president for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Doha. Prior to his he held the same role at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Thailand. Sayess will oversee Four Seasons hotels in five markets, namely Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Azerbaijan.







The Dek appoints Mannin

Media One Hotel has appointed Stephen Mannin as manager of The Dek. He previously worked as a food and beverage manager at Nikki Beach & The Beach House Hotel where he set up and opened five venues. Prior to this, he was operations manager at Nasimi Beach, Atlantis The Palm.







Yas Viceroy announces DOSM

Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi announces the appointment of Ibrahim Korkut as director of sales and marketing. Korkut will add more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience to the Yas Viceroy management team having previously worked in Turkey, Bahrain and the UAE.







Fettke is new executive chef

InterContinental Aqaba Resort has appointed Eric Fettke as its new executive chef. He will be in charge of the six outlets at InterContinental Aqaba Resort, as well as supervising the various operations related to events taking place at the resort. He boasts 15 years of experience.






Chef Ananiadis returns to Lebanon

Sotiris Ananiadis returns to Four Seasons Hotel Beirut as executive chef having spent two years working with the Hotel from 2010 as executive sous chef, before moving to Japan as head chef at Marunouchi at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo. He has 16 years of international experience having worked in Greece, the Maldives, Bahrain, France and Japan.






Scaria joins as new chief engineer

Jumeira Rotana Dubai has appointed Saji Scaria as its new chief engineer. Scaria brings 16 years of hospitality experience. He has risen up the ladder from supervisor to senior supervisor to senior engineer, becoming the assistant engineer in 2011 prior to his new position.
