ETISALAT-EYE of the Emirates Wheel, one of the premier landmarks in Sharjah and the highest Ferris wheels in the region, has witnessed a marked increase in the number of visitors to over 59,000 in the first half of 2013, as compared to the 54,000 visitors reported in the corresponding period in 2012.

The 60-m-high wheel gives visitors an aerial view of the emirate’s tourist landmarks and the surrounding landscape from its 42 air-conditioned cabins.

Al Qasba manager Sultan Mohamed Shattaf attributed this yearly rise in number of visitors to the efforts in developing the tourism sector in general in Sharjah and to the popularity and position of Al Qasba in the local and regional tourism market. He revealed that Al Qasba Development Authority has promoted Etisalat-Eye of the Emirates Wheel at a number of local and international platforms and has launched promotional offers throughout the year.

He added that Al Qasba visitors are provided with a range of entertaining activities as part of the family oriented tourism product throughout the year.

Spread over 10,000 hectares, Al Qasba boasts a range of state-of-the-art facilities and tourist attractions, including restaurants, cafes, the 250 seat Al Qasba Theatre – which hosts various Arabic and international films and plays – Multaqa Al Qasba-Conference and Meeting Halls, Al Qasba Business Centre, Kids Fun Zone, Musical Fountain, Etisalat-Eye of the Emirates Ferris Wheel and Maraya Art Centre.
