Sicilian haven woos families
SITUATED on the south coast of Sicily near the town of Sciacca in Italy and across 230 hectares with over a mile of private coastline is Rocco Forte’s Verdura Golf & Spa Resort. Featuring 203 rooms and suites, it offers modern luxury with authentic Sicilian motifs.
Designed to enable golfers to make the most of their stay, guests at Verdura can enjoy unlimited golf on the resort’s two 18-hole championship courses and nine-hole course, getting a chance to tee off in the footsteps of some of the world’s best golfers on the course which has hosted the 2012 PGA Sicilian Open, the BMW Golf Cup and the Rolex 2012 Tournament.
In addition, Verdura benefits from practice facilities including a double-ended driving range; three chipping and putting greens; and three bunkers while the Verdura Golf Academy, led by golf director Niall Cameron and his team of PGA qualified professionals offers one-on-one tuition along with regular clinics.
The clubhouse, built around a small piazza, houses a pro shop which sells equipment and clothing from luxury golf brands; a restaurant where golfers can enjoy a daily complimentary ‘19th Hole’ lunch; male and female changing rooms with showers and lockers. Guests will also be able to unwind at the award-winning Verdura Spa, with dedicated treatments designed to relax the muscles after a day on the golf course.
The property has a line of golf packages that will suit the whole family as well as individual holiday seekers. The resort is offering an all-inclusive golf programme including daily green fees, complimentary lunch and dinner, and a selection of golf accessories to take home.
While parents keep busy with their games, children aged from six to 16 can also enjoy the sport and learn golfing skills under the supervision of experienced trainers at the Verdura Golf Club Junior Academy, which was launched in June this year.
The resort will also offer a Winter Golf Getaway. Guests who book 45 days in advance for a minimum of three consecutive nights in all room categories will receive a complimentary 18-hole green fee per person, per night and a complimentary dinner per person, per night, with beverages excluded.
