Chic and urban luxury in the heart of Cape Town

THE award-winning One& Only Cape Town is an urban chic resort having set a benchmark for residential luxury living in South Africa.

Situated at the centre of Cape Town’s fashionable Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, overlooking the marina and with panoramic views across to Table Mountain, the resort which opened in 2009 has sprung back to action after a slow start appealing to discerning travellers seeking the utmost in luxury.

Clive Bennett, managing director of One&Only Cape Town says: “In the first two years of its existence, the hotel was affected by the global economic downturn and by the excessive number of hotel rooms built in Cape Town for the 2010 World Cup Soccer tournament. However, since the beginning of 2012, with a very focused strategic sales and marketing business plan, which has meaningfully penetrated the key source markets in the USA, South America, Western Europe and more recently the Gulf states which have been identified as an emerging market with significant potential to the hotel, the hotel’s trading performance has been well above the competitor set.” The hotel’s key source markets in the GCC region have been predominantly Saudi Arabia and the UAE, he adds.

The resort offers tailored services for Arab guests. All restaurants are halal-friendly and strictly-halal catering can be provided with the use of a private chef in the suite. An Arabic speaking guest services officer is available at all times to provide personal attention and care. As well as this, other facilities include prayer mats, female-only maid services, Arabic TV channels on request, Arabic newspapers on request and the Qibla arrow in all rooms.

Arab guests can also enjoy a variety of events and promotions from One&Only Cape Town. Bennett explains: “Some of the most appealing factors of the location, Cape Town is its cool and moderate climate. Cape Town as a destination offers a complete holiday experience including Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Point Nature Reserve, Shark Cage Diving off the False Bay coastline, Boulders Penguins colony, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Gateway to wildlife safaris offering sightings of the Big 5, the V&A Waterfront’s 450 retail outlets and 80 restaurants and 17 cinema theatres all within walking distance of One&Only Cape Town.”

The hotel will shortly be adding a penthouse suite of 1,100 sq m to the room inventory. This is in addition to the current penthouse suite (The One) which is 1,275 sq m. Both offer four bedrooms, all en suite, swimming pool, gym, study and extensive entertainment areas with commanding views of Table Mountain and the city. This summer, the property is also offering two-bedroom suites to attract families from the GCC.

Other features at the hotel include the One&Only Spa, a hair salon – Wayne.com, one of the largest infinity rim flow pool in Southern Africa, Reuben’s restaurant – an authentic South African dining experience from the country’s top celebrity chef Reuben Riffel and Nobu, a recognised Japanese restaurant owned by renowned chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa. It also features a KidsOnly Club providing a complimentary, fully-supervised KidsOnly programme for children aged four to 11 years.
