Promotions at Oetker Collection
The Oetker Collection has promoted Philippe Perd (right), president and MD of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and Château Saint-Martin to senior VP operations and project development, while Didier Le Calvez, president and MD of Le Bristol Paris and Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France will become senior VP- operations and sales and marketing.
Giles joins Park Rotana
The Park Rotana Complex Abu Dhabi has welcomed Francisco Giles as its new general manager. Giles holds hospitality degrees from Hotel School “Les Roches”, Switzerland and brings over 23 years of experience in the hotel industry spanning five continents with various international chains as Radisson Hotels and Marriott Hotels International.
Sofitel Bahrain welcomes new GM
Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa has appointed Samy Boukhaled as area general manager for Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa. Boukhaled will also oversee the operations of Sofitel Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia as well as the regional development of the upcoming openings in Saudi Arabia.
Hilton Abu Dhabi strengthens team
Hilton Abu Dhabi has appointed Lionel Kurtz (right) as food and beverage manager and Sara Barakat as director of conference and events. Kurtz brings more than nine years of global experience spanning France, Dubai, Egypt, UK and US while Barakat was previously with the Hilton Pyramids Golf Resort.
New GM at Park Inn Al Khobar
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Nizam Bou Antoun as general manager of Park Inn by Radisson Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia. Bou Antoun joined the Rezidor family in 2001 and has worked with the Radisson Martinez Hotel, Lebanon and Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat. Most recently he was general manager at the Radisson Martinez Hotel.
Rotana promotes Moulaeb
Rotana recently announced the promotion of Louana Moulaeb as assistant director of marketing and communication of Centro Capital Centre and Centro Al Manhal, Abu Dhabi. The two properties are under Rotana’s brand “Centro Hotels by Rotana.” Moulaeb was previously with the Centro Barsha, Dubai before moving to Abu Dhabi.
Moennich joins Sheraton Dubai Creek
Thorsten Moennich has been appointed director of food and beverage at the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel. Moennich has previously worked with several prestigious properties including the Kempinski-Hotel-Gravebruch, Westin Grand Hotel Berlin, Swissotel Tallinn, Sheraton Frankfurt and the Nai Lert Park- Bangkok.
Sabbah at Coral Gulf Hotel Riyadh
Nedal Sabbah has joined the Coral Gulf Hotel Riyadh as hotel manager, moving to KSA from Dubai where he was director of rooms at the Auris Plaza Hotel. Sabbah has worked with several prestigious hotels in the region including Burj Al Arab where he was part of the pre-opening team in 1999.
New team at Dubai Marriott Harbour
The Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel and Suites has strengthened its team with the appointment of two senior management positions. With over 20 years of hospitality experience, Rajat Chatterjee (right) has been appointed as general manager while Hagop Tchaparian has been named director of sales and moves from Doha Marriott Hotel.
New GM at Mövenpick Deira
The Mövenpick Hotel Deira has appointed Anke Glaessing as general manager. Glaessing moves from Al Murooj Rotana, Dubai where she was resident manager. She also spent a number of years working in South East Asia with the Le Meridien Jakarta, Indonesia and Meridien hotel in Khao Lak Beach & Spa Resort, Thailand.
Vincent joins ibis Muscat
The ibis Muscat has appointed Sebastien Vincent as its new general manager. He joined Accor in 2002 as the executive chef of the Novotel Al Dana Resort, Bahrain growing in his 10 years with Accor. Prior to joining ibis Muscat, Sebastien was with ibis Al Barhsa, Dubai for four years, as hotel director.
New GM at Centro Barsha
Centro Barsha has appointed Eleni Tsolakou as its new general manager filling in for Sherif Madkour who is now general manager of the four-star Al Maha Arjaan. Tsolakou was promoted to GM after two years as executive assistant manager of Yas Island Rotana and Centro Yas Island.
New team at Ramada Downtown
Ramada Downtown Dubai has appointed Shafi Dady Sibomana as front office manager.
Sibomana was previously with the Al Manzil Hotel as night manager and later as assistant front office manager. The hotel also announced the promotions of Sharief Barfaab as housekeeping manager and Niel Canzana as senior sales manager.
New GM at Dusit Thani Dubai
PM Dusit Thani Dubai has announced several key senior managerial appointments including a new general manager, Prateek Kumar, who moves from his previous role as general manager of Dusit Thani Manila. Eliza Artiaga (right) joins as the director of rooms and Kevin Winters takes over the post of director of engineering.
New team joins Bin Majid Hotels
Bin Majid Hotels has announced the appointments of Duygu Kaynak (right) as the new marketing manager. She joins the group having previously worked as marketing manager of Rixos Hotels. Uma Dagdelen joins as revenue manager to lead the revenue management and reservations team for Bin Majid Hotels.
Crowne Plaza Dubai appoints Tanaka
Akira Tanaka takes charge as the newly appointed director of food and beverage at the Crowne Plaza Dubai. Tanaka joins the hotel from the InterContinental Hotel Group in Asia. He has also worked in several free standing restaurants in Japan before moving to the Hotel side with InterContinental Yokohoma Grand Hotel.
Mövenpick Makkah appoints Lotfy
Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Hajar Tower Makkah has appointed Rafik Lotfy as director of revenue management. Lotfy started his career with Hilton Egypt in 1999. He then moved as revenue manager at Radisson Blu Alexandria after which he moved to Saudi Arabia as director of revenue development at Radisson Blu Riyadh.
InterCon Regency appoints Wermers
The InterContinental Regency Hotel, Bahrain has appointed Justin Wermers as the food and beverage manager. Wermers moves from the InterContinental Doha, Qatar where was assistant director of food and beverage. Prior to that, he was with the InterContinental Muscat, Oman as assistant food and beverage manager.
Doyle joins Shangri-La Abu Dhabi
Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi has appointed Paul Doyle as the new executive chef. Chef Doyle moves to Abu Dhabi from Auckland, where he held a similar post overseeing 21 food and beverage outlets and outside catering kitchens with a team of 20 chefs.

InterContinental Aqaba Resort has appointed Chef Shanmuganathan Marimuthu as executive chef. Chef Marimuthu has over 21 years of culinary experience in various luxurious properties in Asia and the Middle East, including Park Hyatt Hyderabad, InterContinental Hotel Doha, InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut, The Splendor Hotel in Taiwan, and many more.
