InterCon Doha welcomes new GM

InterContinental Doha has announced Andreas Pfister as its new general manager. Prior to this, he was the general manager of InterContinental Hua Hin Resort.

He also spearheaded the opening of InterContinental Beijing Beichen as well as the InterContinental and Holiday Inn New Delhi Mayur Vihar.

 

 

Egami joins Kempinski Aqaba

The Kempinski Hotel Aqaba Red Sea has appointed Masami Egami as general manager.

Egami began his career at the Osaka Hilton Japan followed by various roles in England, Germany, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, UAE, Bahrain and lastly Jordan where he was hotel manager at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea.

 

 

Pullman DCC welcomes Bittencourt

Pullman Deira City Centre Dubai has appointed Jean-Phillipe Bittencourt as general manager. Bittencourt was previously general manager of the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche.

He brings almost 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry working in France, Morocco, Argentina, Brazil and the UAE.

 

 

New role for Mallosi

InterContinenatal Hotel Group’s (IHG) Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Abu Dhabi Yas Island has appointed Alexandra Mallosi as director of sales from her previous role as senior sales manager.

Mallosi’s career with IHG began in 2007 in Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel, Athens.

 

 

Fujairah Rotana welcomes Bassal

Fujairah Rotana Resort and Spa announced Maïa Bassal as the new assistant director of marketing and communications.

Bassal moves from her most recent position was communications and PR executive at Mövenpick Hotel and Resort Beirut. Bassal is a graduate from the Saint Joseph University (USJ).

 

 

New role for Philpott

Kempinski Hotels have promoted Hilary Philpott from public relations manager at Kempinski Grand and Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre to regional director public relations, UK and Ireland.

Philpott joined the Kempinski Hotels in 2011 as part of the pre-opening team for Kempinski in Bahrain.

 

 

Marriott Egypt welcomes El Meligui

Marriott Red Sea Resorts - Egypt has appointed Ahmed El Meligui as director of sales and marketing for the Marriott Red Sea Resort properties including Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Taba Heights Marriott Red Sea Resorts.

El Meligui was previously director of sales and marketing for Salalah Marriott in Oman.

 

 

Cristal Hotels appoints Sattanathan

Cristal Hotels and Resorts have appointed Sid Sattanathan as the new cluster general manager of its two properties in Abu Dhabi.

Sattanathan has over a decade’s experience working with InterContinental Hotels in various properties including Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi and the pre-opening of Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi.

 

 

Emaar appoints new COO

Emaar Hospitality Group has announced Josef Kufer as its new chief operating officer responsible for the overall operations of the organisation.

Kufer brings with him invaluable insights having worked with renowned chains in several destinations across the globe.

 

 

Fairmont appoints new GMs

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts has announced Henny Schaeffer (right) as general manager for the new Fairmont Ajman and Nils Axing as general manager for Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi.

Schaeffer was previously hotel manager with Fairmont Dubai while Axing was general manager at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam.

 

 

Kempinski strengthens team

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates has welcomed Mehdi Zaanoun as the executive assistant manager. Zaanoun joins Kempinski from the Trianon Palace Versailles, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where he was acting general manager.

He started his career at the Hotel Four Seasons Georges V in Paris in 2002.

 

 

El Gawhary joins Four Seasons

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts have promoted Yasmine El Gawhary to director of rooms for Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, Egypt.

El Gawhary was also part of the front office training team at Four Seasons Beirut as well as across several departments at Four Seasons Hotel London at Canary Wharf.

 

 

InterCon Doha welcomes new DOSM

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed Cyril Mouawad as director of Sales and Marketing at InterContinental Doha.

With over 15 years of experience, Mouawad joined the IHG family in 2002 at Crowne Plaza Hotel Beirut, and his last assignment was director of sales and marketing at InterContinental Bahrain.

 

 

Sofitel Bahrain appoints Hanna

The Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa has appointed Charbel Hanna as its new director of food and beverage.

Hanna brings over 13 years of hospitality experience in food and beverage having worked in various prestigious hotels.

He was most recently F&B manager at the Gulf Hotel in Bahrain.

 

 

IHG welcomes new team

After 17 years with the InterContinental Group of Hotels, Philipp Economou (right) has been appointed as general manager at the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi.

The hotel also welcomes Carl Moore as executive chef, Darren Suttie as food and beverage manager and Sohail Riaz as finance and business support manager.

 

 

Tannous joins Fairmont Dubai

The Fairmont Dubai has announced Eddy Tannous as the new director of operations.

Tannous joined Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in 2007 as assistant director of sales at the Fairmont Dubai, and moved to be director, sales and marketing and director- rooms, responsible for all room division departments.

 

 

Rocco Forte strengthens team

Rocco Forte Hotels Middle East has appointed Nader Hamarna as regional director of sales – Middle East.

Hamarna has previously held senior regional sales roles with Marriot global sales in the UAE, and most recently director of business travel for The Ritz Carlton, Dubai.

 

 

Travelport appoints GM

Travelport has appointed Ghulam Al Balooshi as interim general manager for its Galileo operations in Saudi Arabia.

Al Balooshi also retains responsibility for Travelport’s commercial activity in the Lower Gulf region.

Al Balooshi started his career with Gulf Air and has held positions with Sabre and Amadeus Gulf.

 

 

Etihad Airways appoints Evans

Etihad Airways has appointed John Evans as its new general manager for the Philippines.

He brings 35 years of experience in airline operations including senior management roles at Swissair and Gulf Air in the UK and Thailand.

He moves from Cyprus, where he was Etihad Airways’ general manager.

 

 

New manager at Dusit Thani Dubai

Inna Asmanova was recently appointed at the Dusit Thani Dubai as its events sales manager.

Asmanova joins the Thai hotel chain with a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry ranging from her native Russia before moving to the UAE to work in a similar position for one of Dubai’s other leading hotels.
