New role for Assmann

The Jumierah Group has appointed Klaus Assmann as general manager of the new Jumeirah Creekside Hotel. Assmann joined Jumeirah as director of food and beverage for Madinat Jumeirah in 2003 and later moved to the US as the hotel manager for Jumeirah Essex House in New York.

 

 

 

 

 

 

New GM at Crowne Plaza Madinah

Mostafa Blanco has been appointed as general manager at the Crowne Plaza Madinah. An experienced GM, Blanco has worked with IHG for over 28 years.  He was most recently GM of the Holiday Inn Riyadh Al Qasr. He has also worked for Al Hokair group as the area general manager looking after a portfolio of eight properties.

 

 

 

 

 

Mercure Seef appoints new GM

Mercure Grand Hotel Seef in Bahrain has appointed Yasser Bahaa as general manager. Bahaa brings with him over 15 years of industry experience and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the 120-room hotel’s operations as well as lead the team in Bahrain. He moves from the ibis Amman where he was general manager.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ibis Amman gets new GM

Ibis Amman, Jordan has appointed Eric Seso as its new general manager. Seso has held various managerial positions within Accor ME and will now be responsible for managing all aspects of the 158-room ibis Amman’s operations. Prior to Seso’s appointment as GM of ibis Amman, he was the GM of the ibis Madrid Aeropuerto Barajas since 2006.

 

 

 

New members at Peninsula Hotels

The Peninsula Hotels has appointed Simon Yip (right) as vice president, sales and Robert Cheng as vice president, marketing. Yip was previously regional director of marketing for The Peninsula Shanghai and The Peninsula Beijing. Cheng, currently director of marketing at The Peninsula Shanghai, will move to Hong Kong in his new role.

 

 

 

 

 

The Gate appoints Hidalgo

The Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, has appointed Yasmine Hidalgo as its public relations manager. Hidalgo brings over a decade of international public relations and marketing experience to the role with professional experience from a number of hotel groups including Crowne Plaza, Shangri-La, Sofitel, Westin and Marriott.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jeddah Marriott welcomes Louie

Marriott International has appointed John S. Louie as general manager of the Jeddah Marriott Hotel. With more than 30 years of experience in the hotel industry. Louie has held several positions in the Middle East. Previous assignments include director of food & beverage and director of operations at the Doha Marriott Hotel.

 

 

 

 

 

Traders Hotel welcomes Taher

Traders Hotel; Dubai has announced Mohamed Taher as director of sales & marketing. He moves from his previous role as director of sales for Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai. Taher’s professional portfolio also includes hotel companies such as Starwood where he worked for 11 years and Accor regional office in Dubai for six years.

 

 

 

 

Media Rotana strengthens team

Media Rotana Dubai has announced Marc Voller as executive assistant manager and Frederick Richard Soulban as director of food and beverage. Voller moves from Al Shalala Beach Club Dubai where he was the operations manager. Soulban was previously director of food and beverage for Al Ain Rotana and has also worked with Towers Rotana.

 

 

 

 

 

New GM for Mövenpick Kuwait

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has appointed Maged Gubr as general manager of Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait. Maged moves from Mövenpick Hotel Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, where he held the similar role. He brings with him hospitality experience having worked in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, USA and Canada.

 

 

 

 

 

Anib appointed at Al Hokair Group

Khalid Anib has been appointed as managing director, Hotels Division for the Al Hokair Group. Prior to his new role, Anib was with the Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts managing their luxurious property in Bahrain. He also has 14 years of experience with Accor, most recently as general manager of the Pullman City Centre Hotel & Residence Dubai.

 

 

 

 

Hertz appoints Kennedy

Hertz has appointed Tom Kennedy as regional marketing manager for Mena. He takes up the newly created position from the European headquarters where he worked on strategic airline alliances, such as Air France and Virgin Atlantic, and franchisee marketing. He has also worked for Qantas Holidays and the Jetset Travelworld Group.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jumeirah Group expands team

Jumeirah Group has promoted Genevieve Picard (right), previously corporate communications manager, as the new director of corporate communications for the group. Katerina Dixon joins as the new director of communications. Dixon moves from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), where she was director of marketing and communications for six years.

 

 

 

 

 

Time appoints Al Zaibak

Time Hotels Management Company has appointed Mahmoud Al Zaibak as the director of sales & marketing for its north properties. With almost 15 years of hospitality experience, Al Zaibak was previously director of sales & marketing for Abu Dhabi & Dubai with the Danat Al Ain Resort / InterContinental Al Ain Resort.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stanford-Kristiansen joins BCCK

Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) has appointed Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen as their new director of sales & marketing. Stanford-Kristiansen has worked with expo@bahrain and Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) for the last seven years. Prior to that, she was vice president of global sales for the IMEX Exhibition.
