Hilton appoints Van Der Putten

Hilton Worldwide Middle East & Africa has appointed Johannes Van Der Putten as vice-president for Africa & Indian Ocean, while overseeing the operations of the Hilton Sandton. He joins the company’s MEA senior team from The Netherlands where he was area general manager Benelux managing nine hotels.

 

 

 

 

 

New manager at Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain

Ned Capeleris is the new hotel manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa. Before his move to Bahrain, Capeleris was executive assistant manager rooms at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha. He started his career with the Hyatt Regency in Sydney and has also worked with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sydney and the Ritz-Carlton, Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena, California.

 

 

 

 

 

Rotana welcomes Varfis

Rotana has announced the appointment of Vicky Varfis as corporate vice president - sales & revenue.  Varfis joins Rotana from N.Daskalantonakis Group Grecotel & Classical Hotels, bringing experience working with high profile brands including Marriott International, Elounda SA Hotels & Resorts, Costa Navarino Starwood Group, Pentilikon Hotel Group.

 

 

 

 

 

El Serafy joins Grand Millennium

The Grand Millennium Dubai has appointed Amira El Serafy as marketing and communications director. El Serafy began her career at a media monitoring agency in Dubai in 2004 was previously with the Jebel Ali International Hotels where she spent over five years as assistant director of marketing.

IHG appoints El Bahri

Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi Yas Island has appointed Elias El Bahri as director of groups and banquet sales. El Bahri joined IHG with InterContinental Phoenicia, Beirut as a trainee in the F&B department and moved to various roles with Sheraton and Shangri-La Hotels before returning to his last role as assistant director of group and banquet sales.

Traders Hotel, Dubai has appointed Mohamed Taher as director of sales & marketing. Prior to his new role, Taher was director of sales for Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.  He spent 11 years with Starwood across Sheraton Heliopolis Hotel & Towers, Cairo Sheraton Hotel & Towers and Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel properties in Dubai.

With a career in human resources training and consultancy spanning seven years, Jardine Ong joins Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates as training manager. Ong moves from Azadea Group. Oman Air appoints new CEO

Oman Air has announced the appointment of Wayne Pearce as the chief executive officer. Pearce joins Oman Air after he held several senior executive positions in Qantas, and other airlines in the region. Pearce was also the group managing director with Gold Medal Travel in the UK, which has a special focus on the Gulf Region.

 

 

 

 

 

Pignol joins Palais Namaskar

The new Palais Namskar in Marrakesh, due to open in Spring 2012 has appointed Emilie Pignol as director of sales and marketing. Pignol was previously DOSM of the Angsana Riads Collection in Marrakesh. She has also held different sales roles with Le Meridien, Starwood Hotels and Concorde Hotels & Resorts.

 

 

 

 

 

Gulf Air appoints Alsukhon

Gulf Air has appointed Ghanim Monzer Alsukhon as its new country manager for Jordan. With over 20 years’ experience and an in-depth, working knowledge of the Jordanian and regional market, Alsukhon covered several management roles within Gulf Air, previously holding the position of country manager for Jordan between 2005 and 2007.

 

 

 

 

 

Raffles Dubai welcomes F&B director

Raffles Dubai has appointed Hichem Ben Amor as director of food & beverage. Amor brings over 15 years of hospitality experience, working in prestigious hotels including the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Doha, Jakarta, Moscow and Dubai. His last position was operations manager at The Pearl Qatar in Doha.

 

 

 

 

 

Rosewood appoints Al Ashgar

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has appointed Khalid Al Ashgar as regional director of sales in Saudi Arabia. Al Ashgar spent four years at Rosewood’s Al Faisaliah Hotel and Hotel Al Khozama, as VIP sales executive before joining the Fairmont Raffles Swissôtel Group as sales manager with Raffles Dubai and later as associate director of global sales.

Fady Sawaya joins the Crowne Plaza Beirut as the new general manager. Sawaya’s started his career with IHG with InterContinental Hotel, Riyadh. Since then he has worked with the Intercontinental Phoenicia, Beirut and InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi before his previous role as hotel manager for Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Abu Dhabi Yas Island.

 

 

 

 

 

Kattar joing InterCon Abu Dhabi

Danny Kattar has been appointed at the InterContinental Abu Dhabi as executive chef. Chef Danny joined IHG in 2000, as part of the pre-opening team at InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut, he then moved to Malta, and later to Doha where he held the position of Executive Sous-Chef.

 

 

 

 

 

Fraser Suites Doha appoints Ramic

Senada Ramic has been appointed director of sales at Fraser Suites Doha. Ramic has also worked with Fraser Suites Hospitality Paris and assisted in the launch of Fraser Suites Edinburgh, before returning to Paris with Le Claridge, Champs-Elysees and the Harmonie,La Défense.

Tarek Lotfy joins Golden Tulip Al Barsha as general manager and regional revenue director for Mena, to meet with the company expansion in the region. Lotfy has been with the Golden Tulip for seven years. He brings over 17 years of experience working having worked with Le Méridien and Forte Hotels.

The Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars has promoted Tarek Nour to finance and business support manager from his previous role as assistant director of finance and business support. Nour has held several positions in the finance and business departments for InterContinental Hurghada Resorts & Casino.
