THE Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Investment and Development Authority (RAK TIDA) together with the German tour operator Reise Service Deutschland and destination management company World of Travel is offering five weekly charter flights from Germany and one weekly charter flight from Austria to Ras Al Khaimah until June 3, 2012, with a aim to bring an additional 50,000 visitors to the emirate.

Under the agreement, six charter flights made on RAK Airways’ Boeing 757-200 aircraft will arrive every week from various areas of Germany including Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Munich and the Austrian capital, Vienna.

Victor Louis, chief operating officer for the RAK TIDA, said: “Germany is an important market for Ras Al Khaimah and this new direct charter flight service is a strategic step in achieving our goal of 1.2 million visitors by 2013. With its temperate climate, rugged terrain and superb beach facilities, Ras Al Khaimah offers an ideal getaway for visitors from Europe seeking sun, leisure, adventure and quality experiences with a great value of money.”

The expected 50,000 European visitors to Ras Al Khaimah will require 490 hotel rooms daily over the nine-month period that the charter flights will operate.  The emirate’s hotel operators have signed contracts to accommodate this new influx of visitors with hotels including Hilton Ras Al Khaimah, DoubleTree by Hilton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Fort Hotel, the Golden Tulip Khatt Springs and the Golf Village Resort managed by Casa Hotels & Resorts. Additional rooms have been contracted in further emirates, Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah bringing the total number of contracted rooms to 850 rooms in the UAE.
