The Sands Hotel of Abu Dhabi has lined up tailor-made packages to lure golfers from Europe to UAE's new international class golfing destination.

The hotel which is playing a major role in promoting the UAE capital as a golfing destination recently hosted a group of 32 German golfers who played at both the courses at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the national and the garden.

International golfing tour managers also visited Abu Dhabi recently and Sands Hotel general manager Majeed Khalil concluded a deal with Sunshine Golfreisen, Aeroworld and Abu Dhabi Golf Club to bring in the German golfers following successful meetings at ITB, the largest annual international travel and trade fair in Berlin. 'The Sands Hotel has tailored 2 nights/3 days, 4 nights/5 days and 6 nights/7 days golf packages, to suit travel arrangements of golfers flying in from Europe,' said Khalil.

'With the new regulations on lifting visas for 13 countries to enter the UAE, we are very optimistic about the next golfing season (June 2001 to April 2002) which will bring lots of golfers to Abu Dhabi.'

The Sands Hotel was also instrumental in including Abu Dhabi as a golfing destination in the Great Golf Hotel Guide in UK and Ireland.
