THE Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and The Meydan Hotel, formerly managed by the Jumeirah Group, have been taken over by Meydan Hotels & Hospitality, under its own hotel brand; Meydan Hotels.
Meydan which means ‘a meeting place’ aims to be a collection of luxury hotels and resorts that will provide guests with unique and iconic places to meet.
Abdin Nasralla, vice president of Meydan Hotels & Hospitality commented: “Dubai is constantly seeking excellence and we want our brand to match that offering. Even with two properties, the Meydan Hotels remain on the top of the game and will continue to be our niche as we grow the brand.
“And this is no longer just in the property we own, but in the quality of service we offer. Both the Bab Al Shams and The Meydan Hotel are renowned for this service level and going ahead we look forward to continue serving our guests from around the world who have come to know our hotels over the years.”
According to Nasralla, Dubai today offers many different concept hotels and both properties have unique elements while catering to all categories of guests from corporate travellers to families and sport enthusiasts.
“The Meydan Hotel sits beside a race course but profits from this USP all year round and not just during the race season. We see a lot of Mice groups from markets such as China and Kuwait,” he said.
“Bab Al Shams on the other hand is a unique luxury property, like no other. It offers guests a one-of-a-kind traditional experience that is true to the culture and heritage of the UAE and we are very proud of looking after the property.
“We have seen that villas tend to be a popular choice of accommodation and so have planned to add 26 new one-, two- and three-bedroom villas to the resort, which we hope to start by the end of the year. Expected to be ready in 20 months, we believe this will be particularly popular among our GCC and Russian guests.”
Nasralla hopes to complete the triangle and looks to launch a new beach property in the near future.
“Currently we have a downtown property and a desert resort, and yes, we are looking to complete the triangle with a unique never-before-seen kind of beach resort. We don’t want to be just another beach property in Dubai, so when we open doors, we will ensure that we stand out,” he added.
Further Meydan Hotels will expand within the region, but will remain close to home.
