Located downtown in the central business district, close to government ministries, major financial institutions and the Accra International Conference Centre and only 7 km from Kotoka International Airport, the hotel is positioning itself to attract both business and leisure travellers.

“Accra is one of the leading economic hubs of the West African region and is strategically important to our expansion plan in Africa,” said Roger Kacou, senior vice president Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Africa. “With this addition, our African portfolio totals 16 hotels, resorts and Nile cruisers, with further new projects in the pipeline.”

The property will feature 260 rooms including 61 Executive Club rooms with their own dedicated 24-hour Club Lounge, 15 junior suites with balconies overlooking the swimming pool and 16 acres of landscaped gardens, and an expansive Presidential Suite spread over 350 sq m.

Standard features in all rooms include complimentary high speed internet access, 40-inch LCD TV,  international satellite TV channels and individually controlled air-conditioning.

The hotel will offer a variety of food and beverage experiences. Sankofa, an indoor and outdoor all-day-dining restaurant, showcases international specialties as well as fresh local seafood. Live music and exquisite cocktails completes the relaxed atmosphere in the hotel bar one2one, while the pool bar and barbecue will be a casual venue to quench the thirst and savour the best grills in the city. The lobby lounge will be a cool sanctuary to indulge in an array of fine pastries, teas and coffees.

Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra will also feature a balance between work and play, with a 750-sq-m sub-divisible ballroom and four meeting rooms all equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment.

Leisure facilities include the largest swimming pool in Ghana, two floodlit outdoor tennis courts, jogging track and a health and fitness centre offering both cardio and weight training, sauna and treatment rooms.

In addition the hotel also has an adjoining commercial centre which includes 2,000 sq m of retail space, which will accommodate 26 leading brand name retail shops, and 8,000 sq m of office space, supported by 365 above-ground car parking bays.
