A high-level delegation from one of Russia's leading tour operators visited Bahrain to explore possibilities of promoting the island as a "quality destination" in Russia.
The four-day fam trip by Russia's Space Travel and Aeroflot airline was organised by Bahrain-based Algosaibi Travel, which is the GSA for the Russian carrier.
"We are targeting high-quality, high-spending tourists from Russia," Algosaibi Travel general manager Isaac Mathew told a press conference.
The Russian delegation visited major tourist attractions and leading five and four star hotels and met government officials during their trip.
Space Travel currently operates two weekly charters to Dubai in association with Aeroflot bringing in 700 Russian tourists. Three years ago, it began promoting Oman.
Its tourism director, Alexandre Nikitenko, said the agency would be targeting families and business travellers.
