INTERCONTINENTAL Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of the InterContinental New York Times Square, the largest hotel to open in Manhattan since 2002.

Located on 8th Avenue and 44th Street, just west of Times Square, the property is in the heart of Broadway within walking distance of 40 theatres and close to the fashion district and  Penn and Grand Central stations.

The 36-floor hotel has 607 bedrooms, 29 corner suites and the 2,700-sq-ft presidential suite and boasts French restaurant, Ça Va, run by celebrity chef Todd English, as well as Ça Va Marché, where guests can grab light dishes such as quiches, soups and salads.

The hotel has a courtyard garden in the lobby with a pool, 10 meeting rooms with 10,000 sq ft of meeting and event space and a 4,000-sq-ft ballroom.

All bedrooms feature a 42-inch flat panel HDTV, a work area with a touch- screen computer so guests don’t need to bring their laptop with them, free Wi-Fi and an extra large bathroom with a walk-in rain shower.

The InterContinental New York Times Square is one of the most sustainable hotels in the city and the largest new build hotel on the Eastern Seaboard to achieve Leed certification from the US Green Building Council.

Simon Scoot, vice president, global brand management, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, said: “This is the largest new-build hotel in New York to open since 2002.  Like many of our InterContinental hotels around the world, the InterContinental New York Times Square is perfectly placed to give guests great access to some of the best-known restaurants, landmarks and shopping areas.  Our guests will get the ‘in the know’ experience that InterContinental is known for through our specially trained concierge.”
